Thank you to everyone who managed to reschedule to attend the February luncheon! We still had a great turnout and hope everyone enjoyed lunch, networking and the presentations. Below is a quick review of the presentations from Sue Uphold and Angela Klisch.

February Speaker:

Susan Uphold RD, LDN. A nutrition & wellness counselor and owner of ForLife Nutrition was our February Speaker. Susan’s topic was “Maintaining a Healthy Heart” in honor of February Heart Health Month. As woman we take care of everyone, we need to remember to take care of ourselves. As the “Heart of the Family” you must take care of your heart.

Susan stressed the importance of not being overwhelmed by changes to make yourself healthier. Take small steps to get to where you want to be. She outlined 5-easy steps to improve heart health:

1. 2-3 servings of Fruits & Vegetable every day. Just lots & lots of fruits & vegetables.

2. Whole Grains. Choose foods with “Whole Grains” in the list of ingredients instead of those that don’t have that listing. Look for 3 grams of fiber per serving within your grains/starches

3. Low Fat & Fat Free Dairy

4. Low Fat Proteins – Trade off the red meats (beef, pork & lamb) for dried beans, fish, chicken & turkey.

5. Activity – get moving. Choose activities you enjoy and go for it!

Susan also shared many great health & nutrition related organizations:

February Sponsor:

Angela Klisch a Juice Plus Distributor sponsored the February Luncheon. Juice Plus is a whole food supplement that allows us to get our fruits, vegetables & even anti-oxidants in a capsule form. This product is in no way intended to replace fruits & veggies, it is a backup to be sure you get the nutrients you need in a world where most people don’t get what they need. Juice Plus has an amazing amount of scientific studies & data to back up its worthiness. They have a program that allows children to get Juice Plus for free. Angela is available for individual consultations or to provide a wellness event for you and your friends or at your place of business. You can contact Angela at Angela@HappyGoHealthy.net.
